Fall Sports

Several North High athletes attained All-Conference status in fall sports.

In cross country, John Mendrin, a sophomore, placed in the top six competitors at the Central Valley Conference meet to merit 1st team All-Conference, and represented the Vikings well at the State Meet.

Football had a number of All-Conference players.  Selected by Central Valley coaches to the 1st team were linemen Chris Feskens and Kyle Bobbitt.  Running backs Devin Varay and Josh Archer were chosen to the 2nd team, while Elijah Boswell, Austin Shoopman, Sam Hiron, and Jerrin Williams made honorable mention.

Chosen 1st team All- Conference in girls' soccer were Amy Duvall and Alexis Cervantes.  Midfielder Brianna Gramley made the 2nd team, and Alicia Maciel and Gabriella Ramos were selected honorable mention.

The boys' soccer team made the State Playoffs again this year, losing finally in the quarter finals.  Jonathan Flores was chosen to the 1st team.   Josť Lopez made the 2nd team and Josť Casillas and Daniel Ortiz wereselected honorable mention.

The volleyball team  had Victoria O'Connor chosen by the league coaches to the 2nd team in the Conference, while Simone Leeks made the honorable mention team.

Congratulations to these outstanding Vikings!

 NAACP Awards

Several individuals associated with North High received honors at the Salem-Keizer NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) 5th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.  Two of the three scholarships  given by the organization this year went to North students.  Receiving the grants were seniors Kaelia Neal and Malik Leaks, both of whom responded in essays on the influence in their lives of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech of 50 years ago.  Both Kaelia and Malik are outstanding students and athletes.
