Larry Mahan (2006 Athletics Award)

A wrestler and FFA Club member at North High, Mahan had already been bitten by the rodeo bug. He won his first event at age 12, and became a professional in 1963, winning his first World Bull Riding Championship in 1965. In 1965, he won his first of five consecutive World all-Around Cowboy titles. In the 70’s hw added a sixth, a feat no other cowboy has matched. Larry shares time at his ranches in Texas and Colorado, has been the subject of an Academy Award-winning documentary, and has launched successful Western clothing lines.
