Hollis Huntington (2012 Service Award)

Hollis was one of only three men to play every minute of 3 different Rose Bowls, in 1917 and 1920 for the Univ. of Oregon and in 1918 for the Marine Corps. During World War I, he posed for a War Bonds poster with actress Mary Pickford. Though not a North or Salem High School grad, he joined the faculty of Salem High School in 1922 as a PE teacher and coach for football, basketball, and baseball. His basketball teams won State Championships 3 times and were runners-up 4 times. His 1924 baseball team was undefeated and won State, and his 1935 football team was one of only 2 undefeated teams in Oregon that year. Hollis has been inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame and the University of Oregon Hall of Fame.
